As some of you may know the Custom Made offices are the ground floor of our house. Its pretty good, its totally separate from the house and next door is Anthonys workshop. One problem is little Missy wants to come in here and make a pest of herself. Sometimes she goes to sleep BUT sometimes sparkly jingly things catch her eye. I have some sample chains hanging up at the jewellery desk which frequently atract her...

I have been getting bits and bobs from my Mum & Dads house of late. Rollerboots, a rug my Mum crocheted for me when I was little*, the scarf my Mum knitted for me when I started school at age 5! Anyway the racoon you see above my Grampy Butler bought me for my birthday when I was around 10 years old. I love him. So now he sits with my yummy plushes from Kid Robot
They are all pretty happy together!

State of Craft

I know I am very late with this, the book has been out for a while but...here you go anyway. Here is my project for the lovely book State of Craft. Thank you Victoria for including Custom Made's giant cushions!

Nearly 5 years ago we moved from a very small house to a larger house. All our friends laughed at us because we had 1 little sofa and a very little TV. Since moving into the house Anthony and I decided to become wombles. You know making good use of the thigs that we find etc.
We didnt want to fill our house up with expensive things, we decided to womble things a little more. Hence the giant cushions/bean bags.
We needed more seating. Our sofa fits 3 people at best but we didnt want to buy another so I decided to make GIANT beanbags. We have three in the living room. Because they are square you can sit them upright and they make soft giant chairs. If you lay them on their sides they make sort of comfy hamocky sort of beds pefect for film viewing.
So I decided to pass them on via this book. They are very simple to make and you can use the pattern for lots of end uses if you change the size; giant bean bags, a comfy pet bed or cushions for your sofa.

We are very pleased to have a stall on Blog and Buy Sale for the month of January! Our 'virtual stall' is stall 9. The idea is to showcase creatives works on the site on a Monthly basis. We will have a stall for the month of January. I love the idea.

There are lots of other lovely sellers this month including Jo Cheung, Harriet Gray, Finest Imaginary and lots of other lovely sellers. 21 in total.

Here's a little screen shot of our stall, the products are below. I had a little trouble with the banner, simple as it looks it was one of 'those' days! I quite like it now though...

Sorry I just had to share this (and sorry about the bad photo) We have had a lodger for the past 2 weeks, Jessie my nephews rabbit. Turns out our little cat Missy quite likes rabbits. Infact there has been quite a friendship going on!

I have been a little nervous about the whole thing. Missy is only 6 months old and quite 'bitey' Anyway they have been having this little friendship through the bars of the rabbit hutch. Jessie rolling her little wooden toy up to the bars and Missy reaching through and patting it.
Anthony sent me this photo on Sunday while I was out. He let Jessie out of her cage and the two of them scampered around for the morning.
Yesterday Jessie went back home and Missy keeps looking for her in the garden...poor little Miss!

So on Wednesday afternoon I jumped on the 3A bus with my bag of tricks and headed up to Comma on the Iffley Road in Oxford. I usually head up to Comma (on foot) to drop of Custom Made goodies but not Tuesday...oh no. Currently Amelia Gregory of Amelias Magazine is on a whistlestop tour of lovely venues to talk about her book Amelias Compendium of Fashion Illustration. And a fine book it is too.So I arrived at Comma with said bag of tricks, and set up my little 'make a rosette brooch with Custom Made' area on a rather nice table the Comma guys had ready for me.

As well as my little brooch making set up George and Davies our lovely local ice cream geniuses provided a special one off ice cream for the event and a local baker The Good Biscuit Company brought fantastic biscuits!
It was a lovely relaxed evening, people chatted, ate ice cream and biscuits and listened to the talk by Amelia about her fab books and magazine. It was great to hear about the driving force behind her work. I know what drives me so its good to hear what drives others. I highly recommend both books- very beautiful with work by lots of talented people.
So all in all a great night. LOTS of people made brooches with me (totaly pleased about that) So thanks to Sally and Dave for inviting me. For those of you in the Oxford area or visiting I cant tell you enough how lovely Comma is. I could buy everything in the shop!

Amelias Magazine Event at Comma in Oxford

To celebrate the launch of Amelias Compendium of Fashion Illustration Amelia Gregory is touring the UK with said book. First stop was Tatty Devine in Covent Garden and on May 25th Amelia will be at the lovely shop Comma in Oxford. Hurrah for Oxford!
The event runs from 6-10pm, Amelia will give and informal talk about the book and there will be lots of tasty treats too.
Oh...and...I Anna of Custom Made will be making button rosettes with anyone who fancies having a go! Come and make a rosette with me!

Phewee, its been a very busy couple of weeks here at Custom Made. This week is going to be a busy one too. I thought I would just take a couple of minute this morning to show you a very cute little lady.

We sadly lost our very lovely old cat Charley a few weeks ago. He had been sick for some time. We knew we wanted a new cat eventually but then the option to have this little kittie came up so we said why not. Her name is Missy and what a cocky little miss she is! She has been terrorising poor Anthony since we got her and he is covered in scratches. I seem to be coming off very lightly on this front!

She has ears like a bat and teeth like needles!

So there's Missy, I have lots of Custom Made related stuff to tell you about later. WIll keep you posted.

Very happy today to have delivered Custom Made goodies to Modern Art Oxford. I love the gallery, Custom Made is made in Oxford so very happy to be working with them. The gallery has been around since 1965 and I have made many trip there over the years (not since 1965!!). Its just had a big overhaul and looks fabulous inside.

This is Tibby. Karen, his owner entered our blue birdie purse giveaway and said her cat was a dead ringer for my cat Charley. I asked her if he waves too and she said yes! I asked Karen to send me a photo of him waving, so she did. She said it was a bit of a half hearted wave. I know what its like trying to get the wave for the camera too! I can see it going on though!

What a lovely weekend! Anthony and I spent a few days in Devon and Cornwall in the lovely sunshine then on Monday we watered a speedway track! If someone asked me if I thought I would ever in my life water a speedway track I would have thought they were mad...until yesterday.
Anthony is helping sort out the long unused speedway track at Oxford for a race in a couple of weeks time and needed some help. We always help each other out (he is a regular selling Custom Made wares at craft fairs etc) so off we went on a sunny Monday to Oxford Speedway track.

Thats me watering the track, I am such a girl (ruined a new pair of red shoes they are now brown)

Driving the van round the track dragging a chain hoe...soemthing else I never thought I would do ever!

Me and Geoff driving the vans round dragging grading equipment...Geoff counted, he did 5.5 miles round the track.
So that was Monday, now its Tuesday and back to making pretty things! More track watering on Wednesday I think...

As well as working on Custom Made I work on my BF Anthony and friend Geoffs motorbike company Co-Built. I do anything that needs to be done on Illustrator!

This is a motorbike they made the exhausts for which I am told are beautiful ha ha! Anyway peeping out from behind the beautiful pipes is the little logo I designed for them when they first started out. These pics are all over the internet at the moment so that makes me very pleased for my Co-Built homies.

Im really enjoying Pinterest
Its a place where you can curate mood boards/pretty pictures/whatever you would like to call them. You can follow others and their boards. You pin photos to your boards and you can repin photos from others boards to your own.

Im glad I stared my account as I would never have found this photo pinned by the lovely Lucy Davidson I swiftly re-pinned it to my colour board. How cute? Get over to Pinterest and start an account, its a lovely way to put together your inspirations...

All busy on the Custom Made front....

There hasnt been much time for blogging of late, we are flat out at CM HQ at the moment.

We are very busy stocking up our ace stockists. Our stock sheets are lined up and ready to go!
Inbetween the parcels going out the door on a daily basis I am woking on a project I will be able to tell you all about very soon, and I am teaching sewing classes as Darn It & Stitch.

Its all going on! Its great...being busy keeps you alive :)

We also have loads of new items in the shop. Our lovely foxes and tigers and other wild animals are very popular. We are a bunch of animal lovers!

Also new very soon will be new bags. I am currently in the process of draughting a bunch of new patterns (yes we do that in house too) so look out for new bags over the next few weeks. Also a little collection of new lazer cut jewels are in work. Look out for those.

Thats about it today....back to work!

I guess he thought I had some treats...treats are scarce in Mojave Desert I suppose. He was very friendly though! I later saw a sign saying feeding or touching the Burro's is prohibited and the fine is $1000.

Chinese New Year was in full swing in Las Vegas when we visited, I loved these big red rabbits in the gaudy Wynn Hotel, where incidentally I won $100. I think the gambling is in my blood!

We have a great new stockist! The prettiest shop in Bristol? Probably is. Look at our Woody Owl roosting on the shelves.
The Pippa and Ike Show (ace name) is a kids shop but the lovely owner Lianne wanted to stock some nice things for the Mums too hence the range of Custom Made goodies. They have just been open a few weeks so if you are in the Bristol area you should drop in. In the meantime have a read of their blog. You can see just how lovely the shop is.

Normal service resumed!

Well...we are back from a little break. I (thats Anna) have been on holiday in California. We had a lot of fun and its sad to be back. Especailly missing the weather! I will post some photos later.

So as the post title says, normal service is resumed. All orders placed over the break will be posted today. They should have gone yesterday but due to a delay getting back post it going today.
